Experimental investigation on lift-off, blowout and drop-back in partially premixed LPG open flames in tubular burner

چکیده
The higher pollutant level in non premixed combustion and safety issues pertaining to can be counteracted by partially-premixed mode of combustion. partially flames (PPF) exhibit the benefits both flames. PPF enhances complete leading reduced soot formation hence lower emission. However, equivalence ratio plays an important role stability such This paper reports experimental investigation on flame characteristics LPG-air tubular burner. curve obtained for base case without any secondary flow shows that velocity at lift-off, drop-back blowout increases with increasing ratio. In presence co-flow air, lift-off blow off decreases compared indicating poor due extensive stretch aerodynamic quenching. results show lift off, out drop back are swirl air than case. Co-swirl better mixing increased residence time. Flame deteriorates as strains boundary stretch.

Gravity effects on partially premixed flames: an experimental-numerical investigation
While premixed and nonpremixed microgravity flames have been extensively investigated, the corresponding literature regarding partially premixed flames (PPFs) is sparse. We report the first experimental investigation of burner-stabilized microgravity PPFs. Partially premixed flames with multiple reaction zones are established in microgravity on a Wolfhard–Parker slot burner in the 2.2 s drop to...
متن کاملAcoustic Detection of Blowout in Premixed Flames
Work to develop a practical, fast diagnostic technique to monitor the proximity of a combustor to blowout using measurements of the flame’s acoustic signature is described. The feasibility of this approach was demonstrated on three combustors with different flame holding mechanisms that are used in most practical combustion devices: pilot, swirl, and bluff-body stabilized flames. Extensive high...
متن کاملGravity Effects Observed in Partially Premixed Flames
INTRODUCTION Partially premixed flames (PPFs) contain a rich premixed fuel–air mixture in a pocket or stream, and, for complete combustion to occur, they require the transport of oxidizer from an appropriately oxidizer–rich (or fuel–lean) mixture that is present in another pocket or stream. Partial oxidation reactions occur in fuel–rich portions of the mixture and any remaining unburned fuel an...
متن کاملGravity, radiation, and coflow effects on partially premixed flames
Our objective is to characterize gravity effects on the structure of laminar methane–air partially premixed flames through detailed simulations. We examine the heat loss due to radiation from similar flames that are established at various gravitational accelerations and coflow velocities. Radiation is modeled using the optically thin assumption that provides a limiting value for the radiation h...
متن کاملGet off the back burner!
A 65-year-old male presented with chronic mechanical back pain and a 6-month history of a discrete, hyperpig-mented reticular rash on his lower back. On further questioning, the patient admitted to daily use of an electric heating pad over the distribution of the rash (Figure 1). The diagnosis was erythema ab igne (EAI). Historically, EAI has been associated with repeated and prolonged exposure...
